A local chapter. A global mission.

We’re one of nearly 150 SCI chapters worldwide. However, our footprint is right here at home. For example, you’ll find us in the deer woods of Columbiana County, on the trout streams of Crawford and Venango counties, and at the rifle range with the 4-H kids. Every spring, we also gather at the Embassy in Youngstown for our Annual Night of the Hunter dinner. The dinner pays the bills. The mission, on the other hand, is what we do the rest of the year.

Because every SCI chapter is part of Safari Club International, the money raised here does double duty. Locally, it pays for youth education, habitat projects, Sensory Safari visits and outings for veterans. Nationally, it also backs SCI’s advocacy for hunters in Washington, D.C., and in state capitals. That’s where the rules that govern hunting are written. In other words, joining puts you in both rooms at once: the deer camp down the road and the hearing room where hunting rights are defended.

Our members are a mix of lifelong big-game hunters, weekend whitetail hunters, parents of new hunters and people who simply care about wildlife. Some have hunted on four continents. Others, meanwhile, have never left the county. Still, they share a belief that hunting is worth protecting. They also believe conservation works best when hunters pay for it.
